The history of the watch and wrist watch history is different for each different watch line. Watch history is as unique for each watch line as it is for each person alive. The history of the watch and history of the wrist watch is very long and interesting. While this article does not cover the entire history of watches, it gives some glimpses into some important dates, founding locations and interesting facts here and there about the history of the watch.

Watches have been around longer than most people may think. They have been an essential part of our lives for hundreds of years. It appears that it is part of the human nature to need to measure time, to need to know how long something will take. And, thus, the history of the watch became relevant to all of our lives. In fact, it is so relevant due to the fact that almost every single person in America, for example, has contact with a watch at least one in their day and millions of times throughout their lives. The history of pocket watch lines began in the 1500’s. Pocket watch history was made by Peter Henlein who created the very first pocket watch in Germany. It would not be until the 18th century that history of the lepine pocket watch would begin.

In 1850, the Waltham Watch Company history began in Massachusetts. It was founded by three men: Mr. Howard, Mr. Denison, and Mr. David Davis. Timex watch history began in 1854. The name of Timex was originally Waterbury Clock and it was based in Connecticut in the Naugatuck Valley. Beginning in 1862, the history of Cyma watches started. Cyma watches are known for having super water resistance up to about 100 ft. and they are remarkably thin watches.

The history of Rolex watch began in 1908 by Hans Wilsdorf who initially called Rolex Wilsdorf & Davis. In 1911, Bulova watch history begins on Maiden Lane in New York, Joseph Bulova makes the first fine Bulova pocket watch and table clocks. The Seth Thomas watch history started in 1930 after the Western Clock Company and the Seth Thomas Clock Company was combined by the General Time Instruments Corporation to create the Seth Thomas Watch Company. The history of g-shock watches began in 1983 by the Casio watch company.

The history of the watch is quite extraordinary and gives us a little insight into how the world changed over the years. It seems that we have always needed to know time and that it has been so essential to our lives that watches to this day are still being perfected by watch companies.
